Precautions for installation and cleaning of sealing rings
Jul 05, 2024
Cleaning is a crucial step before installing the sealing ring. The following are the precautions for installing and cleaning sealing rings:
1. Cleaning of sealing surfaces and sealing rings
Before installing the sealing ring, the sealing surface and sealing ring should be cleaned. This is because any dust or dirt can affect the performance of the sealing ring, leading to oil leakage or other sealing failures.
2. Use specialized tools
When installing the sealing ring, it is recommended to use specialized tools for cleaning and installation to avoid sharp metal edges scratching fingers.
3. Apply lubricant
Before installation, lubricating oil should be applied to the lips to facilitate installation and prevent burns during initial operation. This step also ensures that the sealing ring can be smoothly installed in place.
4. Installation direction and position
When installing the sealing ring, attention must be paid to its installation direction and position. If the installation direction is incorrect, it may lead to installation failure or problems during subsequent use, such as edge damage, air and water leakage, etc.
5. Size confirmation
When replacing the sealing ring, it is necessary to strictly check whether the size of the sealing ring is correct. Using old replaced sealing rings of the same size may result in a decrease in sealing performance.
6. Avoid mandatory installation
During the installation process, do not use a hammer to tap in. Instead, use a special tool to first press the sealing ring into the seat hole, and then use a simple cylinder to protect the lip edge through the spline area. This can avoid damage to the sealing ring.
7. Review of sealing rings
Before installation, it is necessary to carefully inspect the surface quality of the new sealing ring to ensure that there are no defects such as small holes, protrusions, cracks, and grooves, and that it has sufficient elasticity before use.
8. Stress testing
Before using the sealing ring, a pressure test should be conducted to ensure sealing performance. This step can help identify potential issues during the installation process.
