Function of Y-shaped sealing ring

Aug 05, 2024

The manufacturing materials of Y-shaped sealing rings usually have characteristics such as oil resistance, corrosion resistance, and high temperature resistance, such as rubber, polyurethane, etc. Its cross-section is Y-shaped, consisting of a narrow groove and two wide sides. Narrow slots are mainly used to fit with sliding shafts or holes, while wide sides play a major sealing role. This design enables the Y-shaped sealing ring to achieve effective sealing on various shaft diameters and apertures.

Function of Y-shaped sealing ring:
1. Sealing function: The core function of a Y-shaped sealing ring is to achieve sealing and prevent liquid or gas leakage between two contact surfaces. The tight fit of its wide side can form an effective barrier layer, thereby preventing the leakage of the medium. Under various pressure and temperature conditions, Y-shaped sealing rings can maintain good sealing performance.

2. Supporting and guiding function: The narrow groove part cooperates with the shaft or hole, not only achieving sealing, but also playing a supporting and guiding role. During the movement of the equipment, the Y-shaped sealing ring ensures stable operation of the shaft or hole, reducing friction and wear.

3. Shock absorption and buffering effect: The Y-shaped sealing ring has a certain degree of elasticity, which allows it to absorb vibration and impact to a certain extent, playing a role in shock absorption and buffering. This helps to reduce the noise and vibration generated by mechanical equipment during operation, and improve the stability and reliability of the equipment.

4. Preventing impurities from entering: With its tight sealing characteristics, Y-shaped sealing rings can also block external impurities from entering the interior of mechanical equipment, thereby protecting key components such as lubrication systems and transmission systems from contamination and damage.
